Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) has been named to the conference committee on the Water Resources Reform and Development Act, House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) announced today. Rep. Capito is a senior member of the committee.

"The House's passage of this important water transportation bill was a victory for American jobs and West Virginia's economy. I look forward to working with my House and Senate colleagues on both sides of the aisle to reach an agreement to ensure efficient and effective water transportation, protect the inland waterways trust fund, and reduce the number of incomplete river construction projects. I am honored to have been chosen to be part of this conference committee and extend my thanks to Chairman Shuster," Rep. Capito said.

"Congresswoman Capito brings the unique perspective of a state that depends on its rivers to move the coal that powers our nation. The House bill promotes economic viability and competitiveness for the U.S. economy while strengthening our infrastructure, and I am eager to begin the conference committee's work on this important legislation," Chairman Shuster said.

The House passed its version of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act, H.R. 3080, in October. The Senate passed its version, S. 601, in May.
