A strong national defense is of utmost priority as our world continues to globalize and the outrage against Democratic leaders and the Western World continues to rise. The threats of nuclear and biochemical terror are very real and, combined with social unrest in hotbeds of communism and totalitarian reign; we must not turn our eyes away.
I believe in properly funding the activities, training, and protection of those who are risking their lives on the front lines for our safety. And, I believe that we must implement a better strategy in tackling the bloated Department of Defense procurement process by encouraging fiscal restraint when it comes to programs that are no longer meeting departmental needs. By shrinking archaic programs and eradicating obsolete technology, we can provide our troops with the best equipment to achieve their missions successfully and allow the DOD to explore new technologies that will strengthen our military.
As a border state Representative and someone who has seen the realities of cross cultural conflict I am committed to protecting the citizens of this country. Arizona faces this reality on a daily basis--a staggering 40% of detainees in Arizona prisons have entered the United States illegally. In Congress, I will continue to advocate that the United States military and intelligence agencies have every available resource to combat domestic and international dangers and protect the freedoms and ideals that our country stands for.
