Congresswoman Duckworth's Statement on Veterans Day

Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) released the following statement on the observance of Veterans day.

"Although it is just a single day in the year, Veterans Day is a symbol for the commitment America must make every day to honor and serve our Veterans, Military and their families. Our Veterans answered America's call to serve, enduring physical danger, discomfort and long separation from their loved ones. This Veterans Day again sees so many of our sons, daughters, brothers and sisters deployed overseas and in harm's way. Let us each remember now that every one of those Americans volunteered to protect our country and let us continue to remember President Lincoln's words that we shall "Care for he who has born the battle and for his widow and his orphan."

On Veterans Day and throughout the year, we can honor the sacrifice America's warfighters and their families make every day by providing the support and services they have earned. There is no more important job than keeping our nation safe and secure, and they deserve the very best that our country has to offer."
