Cramer Responds to Propane Shortage in North Dakota

Statement

Today Congressman Cramer issued a statement in response to the shortage of propane currently experienced by North Dakota agriculture producers:

"Due to a variety of factors, including an unusually wet season, temporary transportation infrastructure issues, and increased demand, some propane filling stations in the region are running out, or are in short supply, of product. Since many farmers utilize grain dryers fueled by propane to remove excess moisture from their crops, this shortage is a serious concern for our region's producers. I have discussed the situation with officials at Cenex Harvest States and BNSF Railway, and in the interim I applaud the action taken by our region's governors to lift certain trucking regulations, which should expedite the delivery of much needed propane.

"While unforeseen circumstances can occur, fall rain during harvest in North Dakota shouldn't be such a surprise to suppliers. Grain drying presents yet another potential market for our abundant supply of natural gas, which is why I am looking for more ways to get our energy products in the hands of our agriculture producers."
