Letter to Barack Obama, President of the United States - Visit North Dakota

Letter

Dear Mr. President,

There is a place in America where your vision of low unemployment, job creation, and all-of-the-above energy production is a reality.

It is a place where a new groundbreaking takes place nearly every day, and where the signs say "now hiring" instead of "going out of business".

It is a place where the energy, agriculture, technology, and manufacturing industries thrive, providing career opportunities for our citizens and those we welcome from around the world.

This is North Dakota, and I invite you to see it for yourself.

You campaigned there before you became President, but a lot has changed. While the national economy has been struggling to repair itself, North Dakota has been growing jobs in every sector of our economy. We became the second largest oil producing state in the nation while remaining number one in ten agricultural commodities. No other state matches our growth in personal income, housing, and economic output, or our low unemployment rate.

Mr. President, you have seen the headlines, and I know your advisors have briefed you on the accomplishments of our citizens. Several of your cabinet officials have traveled here, and we are grateful for their visits.

But I believe the significance of the North Dakota story requires a visit from the President himself. And what better way to assure a nation your first priority is job creation than to visit the state creating them faster than anywhere else?

I want to show you production making American energy security a reality.

I want to show you our agriculture industry and introduce you to the farmers and ranchers feeding a hungry world.

I want to introduce you to college students confident there will be a job for them after graduation.

I want to show you our coal operations in some of the nation's cleanest air, and see if you can tell the difference between untouched acres and those reclaimed after successful mining operations.

And nearly everyone you meet along the way will have a job.
