Last night, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) released the following statement praising House passage of two pieces of legislation, H.R. 1405 and H.R. 1742, to help Nevada veterans receive the benefits they deserve:
"I commend both Congressman Joe Heck and Congresswoman Dina Titus for working diligently on bills to improve services for our veterans. Both House-approved pieces of legislation are critically important to eliminating barriers that prevent Nevada veterans from receiving benefits they have earned.
"Reducing the processing time for veterans appealing their rating decision is critically important and removing barriers that prevent disabled veterans from receiving housing assistance is essential to serve those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
"We owe our veterans a tremendous debt of gratitude for their service, and we must make sure to do everything we can to provide them with peace of mind. These two bills are a step in the right direction as we continue to improve our veterans benefits system."
