Daines: Obamacare's Broken Rollout Further Demonstrates Need to Delay Implementation of Law

Congressman Steve Daines today released the following statement in response to President Obama's recent speech on problems surrounding the rollout of the Obamacare marketplace:

"Today, the President stated that the new Obamacare website "hasn't worked as smoothly as it was supposed to.' Not only is that a serious understatement--it's indicative of the greater problems that exist with the President's health care law and the dire need to delay the implementation of this deeply flawed law.

"The President's pep rally did little to inspire confidence in the American people and nothing to answer the serious questions about the failures surrounding the launch of the Obamacare website or the Administration's plan for fixing it. His words were hardly a comfort to the thousands of Americans who have recently received cancellation notices from their health insurance providers, are seeing their rates skyrocket under the healthcare law, are seeing that their trusted doctors are not included in their Obamacare coverage options, or have seen their work hours cut because of Obamacare's mandates.

"Instead, today's speech underscored that Obamacare isn't ready for primetime. Rather than refusing to acknowledge this, the President should grant hardworking taxpayers the same one-year exemption from Obamacare tax penalties that he has already provided big businesses. There is nothing fair about requiring hardworking Montanans to purchase a product they don't want from a website that doesn't work, and then taxing them more if they are unable to comply."
