Cotton Statement on the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013

Statement

Date: Oct. 23, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) released the following statement on the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013:

"Waterway infrastructure plays a critical role in Arkansas's economy. This legislation supports our waterway infrastructure while implementing common-sense reforms that increase efficiency and ultimately save billions of dollars. Under this bill, private and non-federal entities will have more flexibility to fund infrastructure projects. It also creates a new approval process that allows for more frequent authorization of new water development projects across the Natural State.

"The final bill included an amendment I offered to address a discrepancy between population growth and water supply in small, rural communities. I hope my colleagues in the House and Senate will work together on a final bill that contains common-sense reforms to protect taxpayers and support our nation's waterways."
