Statement

Date: Oct. 23, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep Walberg voted in favor of H.R.3080, the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WWRDA), to authorize ports and waterway infrastructure projects while implementing commonsense reforms that to reduce bureaucracy, and foster sustained economic growth. WWRDA passed by a bipartisan vote of 417 -3.

"Our nation's waterways are vital to a healthy economy and job creation and this reauthorization makes necessary reforms to cut red tape and bureaucracy while promoting American competitiveness and fiscal responsibility. This bipartisan bill is significant for the Great Lakes region and districts such as Michigan's 7th as it works to address the dredging backlog and puts us on a path to properly fund our ports and harbors. I'm glad that my colleagues on both sides of the aisle could come together and support a bill that rebuilds our infrastructure, saves taxpayer money and creates jobs," said Rep Walberg following the vote.
