Cassidy Pushes Obama On HealthCare.gov Transparency

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) sponsored H.R. 3362, the Exchange Information Disclosure Act with Congressman Lee Terry (R-NE). This bill requires weekly reports on HealthCare.gov, including how many people enroll, what plans people choose and whether they receive assistance from online troubleshooters. The bill also requires the Obama Administration to identify the website's specific flaws and how they plan to resolve them.

This is part of a larger push by Dr. Cassidy to impose transparency on Obamacare. Last week, he sent a letter with other Louisiana Republicans to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius demanding answers to these questions specific to Louisiana. On his efforts, Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

"The President has avoided being transparent on Obamacare from the beginning, with NBC News reporting he knew that families would lose their insurance. Now Americans are struggling to purchase insurance through HealthCare.gov. If we have to pay for this program, we need transparency and answers on why Obamacare is failing. These efforts will force the President to give us those answers."
