Today, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) announced that the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has awarded a public programming grant to Poplar Creek Library in Streamwood, Illinois. The Created Equal: America's Civil Rights Struggle grant includes four award-winning, NEH-funded films that commemorate Civil Rights anniversaries.
"I am very proud that Poplar Creek library was awarded a highly competitive NEH grant," said Congresswoman Duckworth. "These films explain the importance of Civil Rights in the making of our great country, and I hope my neighbors will take advantage of this unique educational opportunity. The taxpayers of Illinois contribute more than their fair share to the Federal government and I am pleased to see that resources are coming back to the 8th Congressional District."
