U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) sent a letter today with members of the Texas and South Dakota Congressional delegations to Air Force Chief of Staff General Mark A. Welsh expressing support for the Air Force's commitment to sustaining and upgrading the B-1B fleet, including those housed at Dyess Air Force Base:
"With increasingly worrisome trouble spots emerging in the Middle East and our plans to refocus on strengthening our security position in the Pacific theater, it is imperative that the B-1B sustainment upgrade programs, specifically the Integrated Battle Station/Sustainment Block-16, remain on track as a high budget priority.
"We appreciate your attention to this issue and all you do for our nation's Air Force."
