Joyce Votes to Boost Great Lakes and Jobs with Water Infrastructure Bill

Today, U.S. Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) voted in favor of H.R. 3080, the Water Resources Reform and Development Act, a jobs bill that allows us to transport goods through the Great Lakes. The bill authorizes the United States Army Corps of Engineers to carry out water resources development activities including navigation, flood damage reduction, shoreline protection, hydropower, dam safety, water supply, recreation, environmental restoration and protection, and disaster response and recovery. Joyce stated:

"This water bill is a big win for our region because waterways and ports support 21,000 Ohio jobs and directly contribute $3.1 billion to our state's economy. This bill also includes an important provision to fight the spread of Asian Carp in the Great Lakes."

Joyce continued, "The Great Lakes are directly connected to 1.5 million jobs, generating $62 billion in wages for American families, and I'll continue to work in a bipartisan manner to protect their environmental integrity and economic might."
