Statement

U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell issued the following statement today regarding the passing of former House Speaker Thomas S. Foley:

"Elaine and I mourn the passing of former Speaker of the House Tom Foley. Tom's long and distinguished service to the people of eastern Washington and his subsequent service as a diplomat have not been forgotten. Tom Foley had a hard-earned reputation for fairness even among his ideological adversaries, and the entire Senate extends its condolences to Heather and the entire Foley family."
