U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) released the following statement after the Senate voted 81 to 18 in support of a bipartisan agreement to reopen the federal government and address the debt limit:
"I'm glad that Republicans and Democrats have reached an agreement that will end the government shutdown and address the debt ceiling in the short term. However, much work remains to be done to address the underlying fiscal challenges that brought us to this point - including our $17 trillion debt. Americans are rightfully tired and frustrated, and we owe it to them to stop governing by crisis and start working together to solve problems."
