Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Daines today joined the House in unanimously passing the Honoring the Families of Fallen Soldiers Act, legislation to provide for the immediate availability of money in the Treasury for death gratuities and related benefits for survivors of deceased U.S. military service members.

"Montana has a strong legacy of service, and I am proud to serve the thousands of brave men and women who serve our nation in the armed forces. I am also committed to ensuring that the families of our fallen soldiers, who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation, quickly receive the benefits and support they were promised," Daines stated. "Today's unanimous, bipartisan vote is an encouraging sign that both parties can come together to find solutions to the problems facing this country, and I strongly encourage the Senate to quickly pass this bill and join us in providing bereaved military families with the financial security they deserve and need."
