Statement on Yellen's Nomination to Chair the Federal Reserve

Statement

Date: Oct. 9, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Monetary Policy

Rep. Schakowsky made the following statement regarding the nomination of Janet Yellen to chair the Federal Reserve Bank:

"I applaud President Obama's nomination of Janet Yellen to chair the Federal Reserve. Dr. Yellen is a tremendously accomplished economist with decades of experience, and she has worked with Chairman Bernanke to help our economy weather financial crises over the past three years. As important, she is committed to building an economy that works for all Americans. As the nation is grappling with Republican-manufactured economic problems, it is more important than ever that when Chairman Bernanke leaves his post, he is replaced by a proven and capable chair. I am confident she is the right woman for the job. I urge the Senate to confirm her quickly."
