Katherine Clark Calls on Republican Candidate to Apologize for Sexist Remarks

Katherine Clark called on Republican congressional candidate Tom Tierney to apologize for his sexist remarks in an article published in the MetroWest Daily News.

"This is exactly the type of attitude we get from the extremist Republicans in Washington who are trying to turn the clock back on women's rights," Clark said. "These same extremists are holding our country's economy hostage while they try to restrict access to birth control, block equal pay for equal work, and keep women from being able to make their own healthcare decisions. Tom Tierney would fit right in down there, but his brand of sexist politics has no place here in Massachusetts, and he should apologize to the people of the Fifth Congressional District for his outrageous comments."

According to a MetroWest Daily News article written by Laura Krantz, "Framingham Republican Tom Tierney told a joke when asked what issues matter most to women. Until they age 18, he said, women need good parents. Until 35, they need good looks, until age 50 they need a good personality and after that, they need cash, Tierney joked."

"I've spent my entire career fighting for women and families," Clark said. "When I am in Congress I'll fight every day for pay equity, access to healthcare, and for women to have a fair shot."
