Webster Supports the Food and Drug Safety Act

Statement

Representative Daniel Webster (FL-10) issued the following statement today following his vote in support of the bipartisan passage of H.J.Res. 77, the Food and Drug Safety Act:

"It is time for action. In conjunction with the six other spending bills that the House of Representatives has already passed to provide relief to those most affected by the government shutdown, I voted today in support of the Food and Drug Safety Act. This measure will allow for the continued oversight of medical products, tobacco and pharmaceuticals, as well as inspections on regulated domestic food products and global imports.

"I urge the Senate and President to enact this funding measure along with the others which the House passed last week, including funding for VA benefits, paying our National Guard and reservists, and reopening access to our national parks. They should meet us at the negotiating table so we can work out a solution that will provide permanent relief and reopen the government," said Rep. Webster.
