Horsford Statement on GOP Blocking a Vote on Fully Funding the Government

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) released the following statement after a series of votes regarding a continuing resolution:

"Pure and simple: Republicans blocked a motion by House Democrats to fully fund the government. I'd recommend asking every member of the GOP who voted against this motion why they won't allow a vote on a bill that would reopen the entire government. I would have voted for a clean continuing resolution.

"Instead, Republicans offered piecemeal bills that cut $6.2 billion from Veterans Affairs funding. Their proposal also failed to fund medical and prosthetic research critical to wounded warriors and Information Technology Systems depended on for the delivery of veterans' health care services. I voted no because this piecemeal approach to funding is unacceptable and it cut $6.2 billion in funding for veteran services. That is irresponsible and reckless.

"Shame on House Republicans. This is not how we honor the bravery and sacrifice of America's veterans. Enough already with the grandstanding. We need a vote on a clean continuing resolution to fully fund the Department of Veterans Affairs, along with the rest of the government."
