Lujan Grisham: House Republicans Have Shut Down the Government

U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01), a member of the House Budget Committee, this evening released the following statement:

"Make no mistake, House Republicans have shut down the government. The Senate repeatedly sent the House a clean funding bill to keep the government open while we work on the significant fiscal issues facing our country. The choice House Republicans faced was simple: pass the Senate's commonsense continuing resolution, or cave into the extremist faction of their party and shut down the government.

"Now, many of New Mexico's 27,000 federal civilian employees will be forced to stay home without pay, vital services for veterans and seniors are at risk, and our economic recovery hangs in the balance.

"Enough is enough. House Republicans must end these political games and immediately pass a clean continuing resolution to open the government and stop harming the American people."
