Cornyn: President Obama, Tell Americans How Much More Debt You Want Them To Pay Off

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) issued the following statement regarding President Obama's call for a clean increase in the debt ceiling.

"Over six trillion dollars have been added to our debt since President Obama took office, a nearly sixty percent increase, while Americans are left paying the tab. Now, President Obama is calling on Congress for a clean debt limit increase without telling the American people how much he would need.

"Sadly, President Obama has not demonstrated fiscal responsibility and certainly cannot be trusted with a clean debt limit increase."
