Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) participated in a conference call with Colonel Richard Hansen, the Commander of the New Orleans District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The conference call centered on Corps preparations for Tropical Storm Karen. Congressman Cassidy released the following statement:
"The preparations by the Corps of Engineers for Tropical Storm Karen are appreciated. The Corps gave assurances that funding is sufficient and they are in contact with local and state governments. I will continue to monitor the situation and stand ready to assist the Corps and Parish Presidents in any way possible. We will do everything we can to protect Louisiana residents from this tropical storm."
