Cassidy Statement on Continuing Resolution

Statement

Date: Sept. 20, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) voted to defund Obamacare, keep the government running and protect the nations credit rating.

"Today's vote defunds Obamacare and keeps vital government services open. Both are important. It is important now for the Senate to act similarly.

"I will also continue to fight to make sure that Louisiana families are not hit with excessive flood insurance rate increases. I also call on the Senate to pass the Cassidy Amendment, which would delay flood rate increases, giving FEMA time to improve its flood mapping process. Louisiana homeowners need a long-term solution to this problem, and we need to bring stability to the housing market. I will continue to work to this end."

Dr. Cassidy today sent a letter available here to Majority Leader Reid, calling for the Senate to pass the Cassidy amendment along with Representatives Scalise, Boustany, Harper, Nugent, Palazzo, Grimm, Alexander, Olson, Weber, and Fleming.
