Representative Peter Welch issued the following statement in response to today's announcement that the University of Vermont and Vermont Law School are collaborating on a joint degree program to allow students to earn an undergraduate degree in three years and a law degree in two years.
"I applaud UVM and Vermont Law School for this innovative and practical idea to make higher education more affordable for Vermonters," Welch said. "Keeping the doors to college open for all students will require this brand of leadership and innovation from higher education administrators nationwide."
Welch recently unveiled college affordability legislation that encourages institutions of higher education to develop flexible and faster pathways for students to earn a degree.
