Cassidy Blasts New EPA Coal Regulations

Statement

Date: Sept. 20, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) criticized the EPA's announcement that they will propose regulations requiring coal-burning plants to capture 40% of their carbon emissions. These regulations will kill jobs, do little to clean our environment and are being proposed without approval from Congress. The Congressman released the following statement:

"President Obama and the EPA are pushing regulations that make it illegal to build coal-fired electricity plants in America. This kills jobs and increases energy prices on Louisiana families. This is why the Senate should act on the Energy Consumers Relief Act that I authored and the House passed. This legislation requires a review of EPA rules to see if the benefits of proposed rules outweigh the jobs lost."
