Rokita Makes the Case - American Health Care Reform Earns Support from Indiana State Medical Association

On Friday, Representative Rokita made the first public presentation of the recently introduced American Health Care Reform Act, a health care reform proposal authored by Rokita and several conservative House colleagues on the Republican Study Committee. Rokita introduced the bill in his role as a featured speaker during the Friday night program of the 2013 Indiana State Medical Association convention. Following Rokita's remarks, the ISMA body proposed an Emergency Resolution to support of the American Health Care Reform Act. The resolution passed on Sunday, September 22.

"As Hoosier doctors are on the front lines of health care, they were the perfect group to hear about our proposal first. I appreciate their favorable reaction and am humbled by the support of key parts of our legislation. Americans demand transparency and accountability in their health care, and so do Indiana's health care providers. This is the first of many state-based endorsements we expect to see across the country." Rokita said.

ISMA House of Delegates Speaker John Wernert, M.D. said, "The swift action of our House of Delegates to pass a new resolution on health care reform was surprising. The fact that Rep. Rokita flew back from Washington to address our convention was an honor. It's obvious he recognized the ideal opportunity to introduce a new health care bill before an audience of the state's physicians."
