Rokita: Obama Admin is "Horribly Inept at Implementing Obamacare"

Representative Todd Rokita today released the following statement upon the passage of the No Subsidies Without Verification Act, H.R. 2775, a bill which he cosponsored and helped lead passage of, that would require the verification of household income for benefit and subsidy eligibility under Obamacare. The bill passed the House 235-191 with bipartisan support.

"The train wreck known as Obamacare, once fully enacted, expands a federal healthcare system that is already prone to rampant fraud. The Obama Administration, by choosing not to enforce eligibility requirements of their unworkable law, would rather open a flood gate for fraud than admit that they are horribly inept at implementing their signature legislation - Obamacare.

"I have a duty to protect Hoosier taxpayers from billions of wasteful fraud and today's bipartisan legislation will force HHS to verify eligibility and will keep this administration accountable. I will continue working to repeal, replace, defund, and delay any and all parts of the Obamacare train wreck."

In July, the Department of Health and Human Services announced that it would not require verification of household income or a lack of employer insurance in order for enrollees to receive insurance subsidies under Obamacare through at least 2014. The legislation passed today would ensure those receiving subsidies are, in fact, eligible under the law.
