U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement tonight, ahead of the House's third attempt in a little more than a week to prevent a government shutdown and stop ObamaCare.

"Tonight we sent President Obama and Harry Reid a third plan to fund the government and prevent a shutdown. Our third common sense offer is based on the idea that hardworking families should receive the same protections that President Obama has already given big businesses and big government. Even at this late hour, there is time for Harry Reid to end his politically driven showdown and pass this plan to help American families and keep the government open."

Background:

·Following media reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid scuttled the Obama Administration's outreach to Congress, House passed a third proposal to prevent a government shutdown, funding government and delaying ObamaCare's individual mandate for a year. Additionally, the legislation eliminates ObamaCare's unfair subsidies for Members of Congress and the White House.

·Today, President Obama signaled his unwillingness to compromise at all, telling National Public Radio "I shouldn't have to offer anything."

·Despite the fact that House Republicans have put forward three options to prevent a shutdown and stop ObamaCare's painful consequences, Senate Democrats have refused to offer any plan apart from ObamaCare's current course of deficits, taxes, and mandates.
