Cornyn: No Obamacare Exemptions For Federal Employees

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) cosponsored an amendment by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to the continuing resolution (CR) that would make all federal government employees subject to Obamacare:

"Congress should never exempt itself or the federal government from a law it forces onto the American people. Obamacare is bad for everyone in the country, which is why I have fought it tooth and nail for the better part of four years to see that every American is exempt. But until we can defund, repeal or replace it, everyone in the country ought to be treated exactly the same and there should be no special deals for anyone."

Sen. Paul's amendment would amend the President's healthcare law to require all federal government employees to receive insurance through the Obamacare health exchanges. These federal employees would not be eligible for any subsidy more generous than the American public receives.

Earlier this month, Sen. Cornyn introduced his "Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013" as an amendment on the Senate floor. The bill would prohibit the Secretary of the Treasury, or any delegate, including the IRS, from enforcing Obamacare and was passed by the House earlier this year.
