Joyce Votes to Avert Government Shutdown

Statement

Today, U.S. Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) voted in favor of a Continuing Resolution to keep the government running and pay members of our military in the event of a government shutdown. He also voted in favor of a one year delay of the President's health care law and a permanent repeal the medical device tax, respectively. Joyce stated:

"I supported the House Continuing Resolution today because it would keep the government running and ensure members of our military are paid in the event of a shutdown. But I'll be frank: it's time to stop playing games with a government shutdown. Washington must stop the theatrics and work together for a real solution which is the constitutional process. I stand willing to work with anyone else who wants to put politics aside, keep the government running, and find real solutions to the problems associated with the health care law."

Joyce continued, "What we are seeing today is the result of a broken government unable to even perform its most basic responsibility of passing a budget. A shutdown would impact seniors, members of our military, and taxpayers and we should take whatever steps necessary in the next 48 hours to ensure a shutdown does not occur."
