Latta Joins Colleagues to Express Concern on Recent EPA Regulations

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) joined House Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY), along with a group of House and Senate colleagues, to express concerns regarding the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) recently proposed greenhouse gas standards for new power plants and the impact these regulations will have on energy costs and the economy.

"Under this administration, the coal industry has endured a relentless barrage of government regulations, which have been promulgated without having to consider basic industry concerns such as compliance costs and feasibility," Latta said. "In my home state of Ohio, 78 percent of our electricity is generated from coal-fired power plants. Unfortunately, the EPA's proposed regulations will result in limited access to less costly and dependable domestic energy, leading to higher energy costs that will cause job losses for hardworking Americans, and also negatively impact senior citizens, families, and farmers."
