Lujan Grisham Statement on 12th Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) today released the following statement on the twelfth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001:

"Twelve years have now passed since the tragic attacks of September 11, 2001. We all remember where we were when we first heard the devastating news. The heartbreaking images of that day will be forever etched in our minds and hearts. Yet in the midst of immense pain and sadness, we also witnessed incredible heroism. From the first responders who ran into burning buildings to save others, to the passengers on Flight 93 who sacrificed their own lives to prevent the hijackers from killing even more innocent people, America's bravery was on full display -- and the world noticed.

"As we honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 Americans who lost their lives twelve years ago, let us also remember the way our nation came together following that day. May we always strive for that national unity and strength. To the courageous first responders and men and women in uniform who keep us safe, we are forever grateful for your service and sacrifice.

"On this day and every day, we will never forget."
