Rep. Valadao Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Statement

Today, Congressman David Valadao (CA-21) released the following statement regarding Hispanic American Heritage Month, which runs through October 15:

"Hispanic Americans have made significant contributions to our nation's diverse cultural heritage and economic success throughout our history. Across the country, and especially in California's Central Valley, communities have greatly benefited from the contributions of our Hispanic family, neighbors, and friends.

"As the son of immigrants and as the Representative of a Congressional District that is over 70% Hispanic, I witness and am affected by these contributions every single day. I am a member of the Congressional Hispanic Conference and the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI), which work to foster broad awareness of the diversity of thought, heritage, interests, and views of Americans of Hispanic descent and to actively engage the Hispanic community in all issues facing our country.

"Hispanic American Heritage Month helps our nation not only recognize the important contributions, but also underscores some of the unique challenges faced by this influential and growing part of our community. Fixing our broken immigration system is of utmost importance. Republicans and Democrats must work together to pass comprehensive immigration reform, strengthening the American Dream for all."
