U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee and a Member of House Republican Leadership, today released the following statement regarding the commencement of National Hispanic Heritage Month, honored from September 15 -- October 15:

"National Hispanic Heritage Month gives us the opportunity to celebrate the rich history of the Hispanic culture and reflect on its contributions to our community and our nation. The United States is the product of individuals from various cultures who came together with tenacity and passion to achieve the American Dream.

"The Hispanic community exemplifies the values of hard work and persistence that are the foundation of our nation. That is why I am proud to join my fellow Texans and Americans in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and showing my appreciation for those who continue to strengthen our great nation."
