Cassidy Demands Members of Congress Comply With Obamacare

Statement

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced he will co-sponsor the James Madison Congressional Accountability Act. This bill would require Members of Congress, their staffs, the President, Vice President and political appointees to fully participate in the Obamacare insurance exchanges. This includes receiving no subsidies unavailable to other participants. Congressman Cassidy released the following statement:

"Members of Congress, having imposed Obamacare on the American people, now want to evade its mandates. If middle-class families have to face higher premiums because of the law, then so should politicians. Likewise, if politicians don't like Obamacare mandates, they should repeal and replace the law with patient-centered solutions which increase access to affordable care. Healthcare should be affordable for all Americans, not just a privileged few. Finally, no matter what, Laura and I have decided to forgo any subsidies."
