Statement

Dear Friends,

Two weeks away from the new fiscal year, I am taking actions to defund Obamacare and delay further implementation of this law.

Defunding Obamacare

Today I signed on as a cosponsor of legislation that zeroes out funding for Obamacare. The president's healthcare law continues to implode under its own weight. Even the AFL-CIO opposes the implementation of Obamacare now because it has seen the damaging effects it has already had on businesses and the economy. If the President is going to delay implementation for businesses and some of his closest friends then we should delay it for all Americans. This approach builds on the President's own policy of delaying portions of the law and ensures taxpayers are not stuck with paying for a program before it's implemented.

Stopping the Exemption for Congress

The President cannot continue to pick and choose who obeys our laws. That is why I have separately introduced a House Resolution of Disapproval to stop one of the most egregious double standards I have seen in Washington and that is the President's attempt to exempt members of Congress and our staff from Obamacare. If it is the law of the land then it should apply to every American, constituents and their representatives alike.
