On September 16, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) announced three Department of Energy grants totaling nearly $12 million for Gas Technology Institute (GTI) in Des Plaines, Illinois. The grants will go towards GTI's research and development of clean, sustainable energy. GTI is a non-profit research and development institution that helps to bring new energy technologies to market. Congresswoman Duckworth included the funding source for these grants in her top funding priorities for the Fiscal Year 2014 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill.
"I am thrilled to see funds coming back to the 8th Congressional District to help create jobs," said Duckworth. "The Department of Energy's investment in GTI will allow it to expand and play and even larger role in developing affordable sources of energy. We must safely and responsibly develop our nation's vast supply of domestic energy and this is the type of investment we should be making."
