Joyce: I Will Not Support U.S. Military Intervention in Syria

Statement

Many Northeast Ohioans have asked me how I will vote on a possible U.S. military intervention in Syria. Here is where I stand:

I will vote no. I do not support military action in Syria because I do not believe the Administration has made the case that a strike is in the best interest of the United States. I fear that any military action could commit the U.S. to another prolonged military engagement in a region of the world where civil war and hatred for the U.S. is the norm. Further, I fear that our unilateral strike could empower radical groups like the al-Nusra Front and further destabilize the region. Because of these reasons, I do not support military action in Syria at this time.
