Horsford Statement on the Anniversary of 9/11

Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-4) released the following statement on the anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001:

"Today, we remember and honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Every day on my way to work I pass the Pentagon building where a plane struck 12 years ago today; it is a constant reminder of the solemn anniversary our nation marks every year. The attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the hijacking of Flight 93 are seared into our national memory, but from those horrific attacks the United States emerged stronger.

"We mourn those who are no longer with us by recalling the heroism of the first responders who rushed into burning buildings to keep others safe. We uphold the values of freedom and democracy that our troops embody as we continue to welcome them home with open arms. We respect the sacrifices of our military personnel and their families by providing our veterans with the dignity and care they deserve.

"On this day, our nation shines as a beacon of freedom at home and around the world."
