Congressman Horsford's Reaction to Secretary of State John Kerry's Remarks on Syria

Statement

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) released the following statement after remarks by Secretary of State John Kerry regarding the situation in Syria:

"As we have learned from recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, committing American resources and asking our men and women in the Armed Forces to sacrifice for any military action is a serious decision and one that cannot be taken lightly.

"I believe the American people deserve and rightfully expect to know that any engagement with Syria is in the best interests of our country and will truly help those it is intended to help. The justification for committing American resources must be clear and a result of cautious deliberation: the President, working with Congress, should explain objectives and conditions for victory so we are not involved in a prolonged conflict."
