Statement
This week, I spent time in North Texas meeting with constituents, doctors, business professionals, advocates, and job creators in the 32nd Congressional District. I enjoyed the thoughtful discussions that we had regarding the current direction of our country and policy debates taking place during this critical time for our nation and community.
Healthcare Meetings
As your Member of Congress, health care is an issue of great importance to me. I believe that we have the best health care system in the world and that all Americans should have access to that quality care. Additionally, the 32nd Congressional District is home to leading-edge medical centers, quality doctors, and hardworking medical professionals. This week I was pleased to visit with several groups in the medical field, a few of which I have highlighted below.
Methodist Richardson Medical Center
On Wednesday, I visited the Methodist Richardson Medical Center, where I met with the president of the hospital and his staff. While there, we toured the new hospital expansion due to open in May 2014. We discussed their goals and priorities for care in their hospital, as well as the impact federal policies have on the medical field. I strongly believe that ObamaCare will negatively impact patients and physicians in North Texas, leaving them with fewer choices, increased health care costs, and excessive government inference in the physician-patient relationship.

Dallas Association of Health Underwriters
I also had the opportunity to speak to the Dallas Association of Health Underwriters during their legislative luncheon. The main topic of discussion was ObamaCare and its effects on our country and state. I shared with the group my views on how to best reform our nation's health care system with policies that empower patients -- instead of Washington bureaucrats -- to ensure access to quality health care. As you may remember, the House has voted to repeal, defund and dismantle ObamaCare and I will continue to stand up for seniors, physicians, and patients to fight for responsible solutions that will drive down health care costs.
Diabetes Meeting
I am a member of the Congressional Diabetes Caucus and have taken a special interest in learning more about diabetes and its impact on the lives of so many North Texans. I met with a constituent and her family in my Dallas office this week to discuss the current progress made in research and the legislative initiatives that can help support the fight to find a cure for Type-1 diabetes. I was touched by the personal stories of those who have been impacted and I will continue to fight for a cure of this autoimmune disease.

Dallas Regional Chamber's Congressional Forum
On Thursday, I joined two of my colleagues in the North Texas delegation, Jeb Hensarling (TX-05) and Marc Veasey (TX-33) at the Dallas Regional Chamber's annual Congressional Forum. This town hall style meeting provided an opportunity for us to speak with business and community leaders about important legislation and other federal issues that impact our region and state.

The many different topics of discussion included the American Airlines merger, Obamacare, Housing Reform, and Immigration reform. My colleagues and I had the opportunity to share our thoughts and opinions on these topics and what we thought was best for the American people and, specifically, the residents of North Texas. I was especially pleased to have yet another public opportunity to enumerate how the implementation of Obamacare will be destructive to employers, employees, and our healthcare system.
