DeLauro Statement On McCarthy Confirmation To Be EPA Administrator

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today on Gina McCarthy's confirmation to be the new Environmental Protection Agency Administrator. McCarthy is a former Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. She was confirmed by a vote of 59-40.

"Gina's intelligence and dedication will serve her, and the entire nation, well in this new role. I enjoyed working with her in Connecticut. Whether it was protecting the Long Island Sound or improving the quality of our air, land and water, Gina would take all points of view into account, while staying true to her principles. I hope that her confirmation, coupled with the President's recent remarks means we will begin to seriously combat climate change, the most important ecological issue of our time."
