Joyce Welcomes News of Demolition Funds

Statement

Today, Rep. Dave Joyce (OH-14) released the following statement welcoming the U.S. Department of Treasury's decision to utilize up to $60 million of Hardest Hit Funds (HHF) to stabilize local property values through demolition:

"Today's decision will allow us to move forward with our shared goal of protecting responsible Ohio homeowners. Vacant and abandoned properties continue to be an economic drag on Northeast Ohio neighborhoods and today we took an important step towards revitalization."

Earlier this year, Joyce introduced legislation that would release federal funds for demolition of vacant and blighted homes in targeted areas of the state. The bill was co-sponsored by eight members of the Ohio delegation. Senator Rob Portman introduced a similar Senate version.
