Rep. Mark Takano Announces "100 Businesses in 100 Days" Tour

Press Release

Date: Aug. 9, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Mark Takano (D-Riverside) announced today that he will be conducting a tour of one hundred local Inland Empire businesses over the next one hundred days. The tour, dubbed "100 Businesses in 100 Days," will give Rep. Takano the opportunity to talk with business owners and their employees about the business climate and their challenges.

"The Inland Empire has been hit particularly hard during The Great Recession. With the unemployment rate peaking at 15% and one in every fourteen homes in the region being foreclosed on, fixing our local economy is a top priority of mine," stated Rep. Takano. "Over the next 100 days, I will visit 100 businesses and talk directly with the owners and their employees. I want to know what their challenges are -- and most importantly, I want to know what they think Congress should be doing to accelerate the recovery."

The tour will begin Wednesday, August 14 at 10:00am when Rep. Takano will hold a press conference and tour ISCA Technologies, Inc. in Riverside.

For the remainder of the tour, Rep. Takano will visit and meet with business owners throughout the 41st Congressional District (Riverside, Perris, Moreno Valley and Jurupa Valley) across all business sectors, including: manufacturing, export, retail, construction, high-tech, hospitality, food service, and more.

Prior to each visit, businesses will be encouraged to fill out a survey asking details about their company, including: number of employees, gross sales, recent difficulties, future business outlook, and more. The findings will be compiled in a report by the Office of Mark Takano and used to direct future legislation that will improve the economy.
