Rep. Ellison Commends Confirmation Of B. Todd Jones To Lead ATF

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and Chief Deputy Whip, released the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm B. Todd Jones as the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) :

"After seven years without a director, the ATF is now officially in the capable hands of my good friend B. Todd Jones. Appointed as Acting Director in 2011, Jones has worked constructively with Congress to reduce gun violence. He has provided valuable leadership in making the ATF an effective force for safety in our communities. His confirmation is good news for America's families.

"B. Todd Jones has a record of commitment to serving his country. After graduating from the University of Minnesota Law School, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Korea and Okinawa before returning to Camp Pendleton to serve as a judge advocate. He was appointed by both President Clinton and President Obama to serve as Minnesota's U.S. Attorney. I know Todd will continue to build on his impeccable record of public service as Director of the ATF.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with a leader so committed to the betterment of our country. B. Todd Jones will serve the American people the same way he served Minnesotans, with distinction and honor."
