U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today released the latest weekly "Freedom Minute" segment, in which he notes Obamacare is forcing employers to hire more part-time employees and less full-time workers while at the same time limiting the hours of employees, and he urges listeners to join the fight to defund it.
"Hi, I'm Ted Cruz, and this is the Freedom Minute.
"Recently, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke testified before Congress about Obamacare, and he said that employers are hiring part-time workers in order to avoid the mandate.
"This is one instance in which Bernanke is right.
"In fact, U.S. employers have added far more part-time employees this year -- averaging 93,000 a month -- than full-time workers, which are only averaging 22,000 a month.
"In addition, employers are forcing employees to work 29 hours a week or less.
"Today, we're approaching the last, best chance to stop Obamacare, which is hurting the economy and it is a disaster for working people and their families.
"Single moms, people struggling to climb the economic ladder, can't make ends meet working part-time.
"I'm helping lead the effort to defund Obamacare, and I urge you to join us.
