Ayotte Statement on Only One Insurer Qualifying for NH Health Care Exchange

U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) said today that this week's announcement that only one insurer has qualified to participate in New Hampshire's health insurance exchange under Obamacare highlights how the President's health care law is failing to deliver on its promises of real competition in the health insurance marketplace. She released the following statement:

"The administration is spending hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars trying to convince the American public that its health care law will lower premiums through robust competition in the exchanges. But that's not what we're seeing in New Hampshire, where only one insurer has qualified to participate in the exchange. Instead of real competition, the law is only creating uncertainty and burdensome mandates that will drive up the cost of insurance and force people to buy health plans that may not necessarily fit their individual needs."
