Cassidy, Vitter Encourage National Association of Counties To Support Flood Insurance Reform

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) and Senator David Vitter (R-LA) wrote the National Association of Counties requesting they pass a resolution supporting revisions to the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012. These revisions would protect Americans from flood insurance rate hikes caused by this bill and FEMA's flawed flood risk analysis methodology.

"Americans are learning this is a national problem," said Cassidy. "Flood insurance rate hikes will hurt families and businesses from Metairie to Manhattan. This will slow job growth throughout the country. As the voice for county governments, I encourage the National Association of Counties to stand for their constituents and push for sensible flood insurance rates."

The resolution which the National Association of Counties will consider is sponsored by parish governments and local officials throughout Louisiana. It will be reviewed by the Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee during the NAC Annual Conference.
