U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement today on the Senate confirmation of Gina McCarthy to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

"Ms. McCarthy carries unique experience to head the EPA and she is well-suited to carry out the job. I am glad that the Senate gave Ms. McCarthy the vote that she so rightfully deserved and the bipartisan support she received today is a true testament to her qualifications. She is exactly the type of strategic leader that our country needs and I look forward to working with her on a range of environmental issues."
